Visa Information
Dear student, if you would like Saba Institute to arrange the visa for you, please contact us: contact@saba-institute.com.
Extended stays require a student visa that can only be obtained once in Yemen. A tourist visa can have its status transferred to a visa for 4000YR per month (this fee is subject to change). To get the extension, students are required to take an HIV test to prove that they are not HIV-positive. The blood test must be administered in Yemen; the results of a test from a foreign country will not be accepted as valid. Saba recommends you have a test administered prior to your arrival in Yemen to avoid any surprises.
Long stays of up to a year or more require that a student obtain a residency permit, the cost of which is $60 (fee subject to change). Students must take the HIV test and open a bank account at a Yemeni bank, then submit the results and a letter from the bank with which the account was opened, 4 passport size photos, and a letter of no objection from their embassy. The letter states that your country has no objection to your residing in Yemen, and it should be easy to obtain from your embassy or consulate here in Sana'a. This may sound difficult, but it isn't, and Saba will offer assistance to help make it easy and stress-free.
Please remember that while Saba may arrange your visa, you as a student are ultimately responsible for knowing the visa regulations and for making sure your visa is current and valid.
Registering with your Embassy
It is recommended that students register with their embassy or consulate upon arrival in Yemen. Every embassy has its own procedures for registering so students must make sure to research their embassy's procedure. The majority of embassies allow online registration, which enables students to receive important messages and emergency information during their stay in Yemen.
